Health & Wellness
Grace is proud that we have established a Health Minister program that focuses not only on the physical well being of the individual but also emphasizes the spiritual, mental, emotional and social well being of each congregant. The Health Minister is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse that has been trained as a Parish Nurse. He or she promotes wellness through educational programs, guest speakers and shared resources relating to health issues. The Health Minister is an advocate for patient needs and rights. He/she will do hospital visits and follow up, home visits, assess needs in the home and assist in getting outside care in the home. The Health Minister has a network of individual church members that assist in providing some of these services and to keep the Health Minister informed of individuals with specific needs. We are called as Christians to serve others and Grace is blessed with many that minister beyond the walls of the church.
Grace recently introduced an exercise program designed to increase strength, tone muscles and improve mobility through the use of resistance bands and a structured exercise regimen. Participants are encouraged to exercise three times a week. The class is offered twice weekly at Grace, Tuesdays and Thursday at 1:00pm, and each participant receives a DVD or VHS tape for use at home.
Grace offers a Caregivers support group once a month to help those that are caring for a loved one in the home. We presently meet the first Monday of the month at 4:00PM.
Health was once defined as physical and emotional well being. We as Christians have come to realize that our spiritual, mental and social well being also impact our sense of wellness. We try to promote wellness and participation in each aspect so we can be the person Christ calls us to be.
